Matheny Announced Run For Black’s Seat

Rep. Judd Matheny will run for Rep. Diane Black’s congressional seat. Matheny announced his bid for the District Six representative seat recently in White County. TWRA Commissions New Officers

Putnam County’s Jamie Greenwood was recently hired as a wildlife officer. The TWRA announced Greenwood was one of five new wildlife officers hired last week. The five must now complete TWRA training and graduate from the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy. Once the training is completed, they’ll be assigned to various locations statewide. TWRA: No Boating Fatalities During Holiday

The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency reported no boating fatalities over the Independence Day holiday. TWRA officials said statewide more than 10,000 boats were inspected and 20 people were arrested for boating under the influence. Operation Dry Water was held for three of those days. Falling Water River Bridge To Be Repaired

Sen. Paul Bailey announced Friday a White County bridge would be repaired over the next three years. The bridge is on Old State Route 42, crossing the Falling Water River. Putnam County 175th Anniversary Ends July 4

Putnam County’s 175th anniversary celebration will end this weekend. Putnam County Executive Randy Porter said the official celebration began back in February and it’ll all end with a ceremony on July 4. Fentress Officers Arrest Fugitives

The Fentress County Sheriff’s Department and Jamestown Police arrested a fugitive Thursday. Jackie Foster, 30, of Deer Lodge, Tenn., was found in the attic of a home on Clark Street in Jamestown. A K-9 officer was sent into the attic and Foster was arrested without incident. A written statement from the FCSD states Foster was wanted on Fentress County warrants. ... Read More »

Putnam BOE Passes 3rd Budget Draft

The Putnam County Board of Education approved a third draft of its budget Thursday. That budget still has a $3.89 million hole. The Putnam County Board of Education moving forward on a site in southern Cookeville for a potential elementary school. The 45-acre property is on Lee Seminary Road, near the Highlands Business Park.
