New Parking Area Opens At Meadow Creek Park

Parking at Monterey’s Meadow Creek Park has expanded. The new gravel parking area is located towards the mountain bike trail head under construction. June Sales Tax Revenues Up 10% Over 2019

It appears Putnam County has weathered the feared sales tax downturn from COVID as June revenue numbers increased 10.3 percent over last year. ARC Approves Funding For Monterey Water And Sewer Project

The Town of Monterey’s water and sewer line project off exit 300 received final approval from the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC). The commission requires a review by a consultant before funding a project with federal money. Reels Defeats Wiggins in Monterey

J.J. Reels defeated Incumbent Bill Wiggins in the Monterey Mayor’s race Thursday night. Reels won with 57-percent of the vote. Monterey also saw two contested Board of Aldermen seats Thursday. Monterey Man Pulls Gun On City Employees

A Monterey man was charged with aggravated assault Monday morning after pulling a gun on two city employees. Workers were trimming trees in an alley near Holly Street when Carl Bohannon blocked the road with his vehicle.
