It appears Putnam County has weathered the feared sales tax downturn from COVID as June revenue numbers increased 10.3 percent over last year. The Town of Monterey’s water and sewer line project off exit 300 received final approval from the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC). The commission requires a review by a consultant before funding a project with federal money. A Monterey man was charged with aggravated assault Monday morning after pulling a gun on two city employees. Workers were trimming trees in an alley near Holly Street when Carl Bohannon blocked the road with his vehicle.
