Settlement Reached In Sexual Harassment Lawsuit Against Cumberland Co.

Cumberland County has reached a settlement of $1.1 million to the United States Justice Department for a sexual harassment lawsuit. The county was sued after former Solid Waste Director Mike Harvel allegedly discriminated against ten female employees from 2015 to 2018. Cumberland County’s Obed River Park will be closed Tuesday for a controlled burn of the grassland area. Volunteer First Services of Cumberland County has received just under $2 million to expand broadband access in the county. Putnam County Sheriffs Dispatchers reported side roads “very bad” across the county as freezing rain fell overnight. Multiple calls of vehicles off the road and not able to move, according to dispatchers. The Upper Cumberland is getting some attention from the state in this year’s proposed budget. State Senator Paul Bailey said that there is private investment from Charter Communications into rural broadband expansion. Power crews are out this Sunday morning across the Upper Cumberland working to restore power. Heavy wet snow blanketed the region overnight. Some ice also being reported on trees. Art Circle Public Library Temporarily Closing For Carpet Installation

The Art Circle Public Library will close its doors to patrons for over a month for carpet installation, starting Saturday.
