Art Circle Public Library Temporarily Closing For Carpet Installation

The Art Circle Public Library will close its doors to patrons for over a month for carpet installation, starting Saturday.

Administrative Assistant Wayne Schobel said the replacement was needed after 10 years with the original carpeting.  Schobel said unfortunately patrons cannot come inside the building until March 8 but there are still checkout options.

“They can reserve items either by calling or reserving them online,” Schobel said. “They’ll be notified when their selections are available and then they can pick them up by the electronic doors by our meeting room in the back.”

Schobel said this carpet replacement will be downstairs, and the upstairs carpeting was done in 2020. He said using carpet tiles should make installation easier.

“They place that underneath the bottom shelves,” Schobel said. “The bottom shelf is just lifted up and the carpet is put under it. So, it’s much simpler than having to remove all the shelves and all the books. So, we just have to move the books on the bottom shelf.”

Schobel said patrons with library cards can also utilize online reading resources.

“The only other thing they have available to them is the use of our READS eBook and audio book,” Schobel said. “Using the reads.overdrive.com system. There are a lot of people that utilize that now. In fact, last month it was 9,300 items checked out.”

Schobel said that library staff will be available by phone to help with reserving items for pick up. He said pick up is available Monday through Friday between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM.
