Smithville Man Sentenced For Aggravated Statutory Rape

A Smithville man avoided additional jail time Monday after pleading guilty to aggravated statutory rape. 36-year-old Greg Alan Fox received a four year sentence suspended to supervised probation and time served. Highway 84 Shut Down After Truck Strikes Power Lines

Authorities shut down Highway 84 Tuesday morning after a commercial vehicle caused two power poles to break. The Tennessee Highway Patrol said the accident happened at 6:34 a.m. as the Peterbilt Conventional traveled southbound in Overton County. A traffic stop for speeding led to a drug bust in Cookeville Sunday. The Tennessee Highway Patrol charged 22-year-old Christopher John Odom with possession of a controlled substance.
