Putnam Closes Fiscal Year With A New Record For Building Permits

Putnam County set an all-time building permit record for the 2021-2022 fiscal year. The county had 436 permits for $89.4 million. 245 of those permits were for new single family homes. Putnam Sheriff’s To Apply For Mental Health Patient Transportation Grant

The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office will apply for a grant to help cover the cost of transporting mental patients from medical hospitals to mental hospitals. One of Putnam County’s longtime elected officials passed away Wednesday morning. Register of Deeds Harold Burris was 60-years-old. Commission Approves Business Park Property Purchase With Cookeville

The Highlands Business Park will expand by an additional 16 acres. That after Putnam County Commissioners approved a joint deal with Cookeville to purchase the land. Putnam Committee Recommends New Budget Draft After Several Cuts

The Putnam County Budget Committee cut about $695,000 of departmental requests Monday in order to better balance its new fiscal year budget. The cuts included eight requested positions, four from EMS, three firefighters, and one mechanic. Some $200,000 worth of EMS equipment and a sheriff’s vehicle were also cut. Additional Money For Dirt Work At Tennessee Ave Fairgrounds Approved

The Putnam County Commission voted Monday to allow Mayor Randy Porter to move forward with dirt work at the Tennessee Avenue fairgrounds site.
