Bridge Repair Closes Lane for I-40 Eastbound Traffic Saturday

Bridge repair will limit Interstate 40 eastbound traffic in Cumberland Saturday.   T-DOT contract crews will be repairing the mile marker 326 bridge beginning at 6:00 AM Saturday. Cumberland County wants to pursue an available facility for a new highway building and complex. County Mayor Allen Foster said county officials have looked at a eight-acre complex at the corner of Highway 70 and Northside Drive. The Cumberland County Board of Education unanimously approved requesting a freeze on state standardized testing Thursday night. In its resolution the Cumberland County Board cited the disparities in learning and teaching methods this school year. 7 Injured Including 4 Kids In I-40 Accident

An overnight accident along Interstate 40 in Crossville left seven people injured, one critically. The Tennessee Highway Patrol reports the one-vehicle accident happened around 2:30am near mile marker 320. A vehicle driven by 48-year-old Dorthy Clark of Clinton ran across the left rumble strips. Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office Looking for Info

The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a daycare. The Sheriff’s Department said the Crossville daycare operates from a Genesis Road and a Dogwood Circle location. Investigator Tom Howard said they cannot comment on the investigation at this time, and cannot name the allegations against the daycare center.
