Strong winds from Monday night’s storms left trees down and power out in several communities across the Upper Cumberland.
A survey of Emergency Service officials noted a tree down on a house on 20th Street in Cookeville. Putnam County residents also experienced power outages from Volunteer Energy, UCEMC, and Cookeville Electric.
Overton County Schools are closed on Tuesday due to trees down on roads and no electricity at Wilson Elementary School.
Fentress County had some 200 residents without power as of 6am Tuesday. They also had a power line fall onto a car on Right Road.
Clay County has downed trees scattered throughout the county and a power line down on the corner of Brady Road and Omer Short Road.
Jackson County and Cumberland County had trees toppled by the powerful winds, but no major damage.
