The Cookeville Theatre Company will honor local theater legends with Lifetime Achievement Awards Saturday.
Cookeville Theatre Company President Kathleen Gilpatrick said the honored individuals impacted community theatre in the Upper Cumberland. Ken Gum, Kirby Hamilton, Peggy Hamilton, Jim White, and Joanne White will be recognized.
“Lifetime achievement to me is someone who has intentionally chosen in their life to support the non-profited organization, their community,” Gilpatrick said. “It means their life has been dedicated to a cause and that was theatre.”
Gilpatrick said the awards are a symbol of the contributions each individual has made to the community. Gilpatrick said they will recognize two individuals posthumously for their impact on the theater community as a whole.
“I also like to mention we are going to honor two people posthumously and that is Lee Piepmeier and Neil Carpenter who are no longer with us,” Gilpatrick said. “But also made great contributions to the community theatre as a whole and the area.”
