Emergency Crews Respond To Crash On Interstate 40

Injuries are being reported after a vehicle crash on Interstate 40 in Putnam County. The accident happened Thursday afternoon near eastbound mile marker 278 in Baxter. Smith County Man Charged with Statutory Rape

Dylan Michael Castro faces two counts of statutory rape after having sexual encounters with a minor in Smith County.

A Smith County man faces two counts of statutory rape following an investigation by the Smith County Sheriff’s Office. According to arrest affidavits, 22-year-old Dylan Michael Castro was arrested Aug. 16 after having sexual encounters with a 16-year-old juvenile. White County Mosquitoes Test Positive for West Nile Virus

The Tennessee Department of Health reported cases of West Nile Virus in White County mosquitoes. Dr. Abelardo Moncayo is the Director of Vector-Borne Diseases at TDH. Tree Limb Causes Brief Power Outage In Cookeville

Cookeville Electric customers lost power this morning after a tree limb fell across power lines. Cookeville Electric representative Karen Brown said crews removed the tree limb from the line and quickly restored power. The outage affected approximately 1,500 customers and lasted about 20 minutes. Parts of Jefferson Avenue were affected by the outage.   Read More »

Overton County Woman Charged With TennCare Fraud

A woman from Livingston faces up to four years in prison after being arrested for TennCare fraud Wednesday. The Overton County Sheriff’s Office has accused 55-year-old Kimberly L. Thrasher of selling a portion of prescription drugs she obtained through the state’s health insurance program. Smartt Pleads Guilty To Fatal 2017 Crash

A woman pleaded guilty on Wednesday to a deadly December 2018 crash in Warren County. 28-year-old Asia Smartt will serve a year and a half in jail for charges of vehicular homicide and vehicular assault.
