TDOT Closing Portion of Cookeville Square Thursday

The Tennessee Department of Transportation will shut down a portion of the Cookeville Courthouse square Thursday. A Cookeville man will appear in court next week after being arrested in connection with a September burglary in DeKalb County. The National Weather Service has confirmed that an EF0 tornado touched down in White County during Monday’s round of severe weather. Sales Tax Repealed in Smith Co., Wine Allowed in Carthage

Referendums effecting Carthage residents and all of Smith County were passed during Tuesday’s election. The first referendum repeal the county’s sales and use tax. Cookeville Couple Charged With TennCare Fraud

Putnam County authorities have arrested two Cookeville residents for attempting to sell prescription drugs acquired through TennCare. A Putnam county grand jury has indicted Jeffrey Lynn Bradshaw and his wife Wendy Michelle Bradshaw on charges of TennCare fraud. Patricia Clark Elected Allardt Mayor

Unusual circumstances led to Patricia Clark being elected as the Allardt Mayor in Tuesday’s election. According to the Fentress County Election Commission, Clark was the only certified write-in candidate for the position. Opry Announcer’s Son Dies in Early Tuesday Crash

The son of an Upper Cumberland broadcasting veteran passed away early Tuesday morning in a car accident.
