Williams To Run For House Majority Leader

Cookeville State Representative Ryan Williams will seek the nomination to become the next House Majority Leader.

Williams made the announcement Wednesday in a letter addressed to his Republican colleagues.

“As your Majority Leader, I will continue to focus on bringing our members together to achieve similar successful outcomes on important state issues, and also provide more guidance and support for the policies that are priorities to you and your constituents,” Williams said.

Williams served as Republican Caucus Chairman for the past two years. Williams stated that he made two distinct promises when he solicited votes for Caucus Chairman two years ago.

“The first was that I would be diligent and persistent in the pursuit of raising money for our caucus so we could continue to provide support to our current members and also grow our supermajority to include representation from more Tennessee communities whose citizens share our values,” Williams said. “I am pleased to report our caucus has never been more financially capable to meet any and all challenges and to allow our membership numbers to reach new heights.”

Current House Majority Leader Glenn Casada has announced his intention to run for the Tennessee Speaker of the House position.

The House Majority Leader serves as the chief officer of the Republican party in the House of Representatives and provides direction and coordination of legislation in which the Caucus has an interest

Republican lawmakers will meet November 20th to vote on the nominations for the position.
