Warren Co. Commission Rejects 19-Cent Tax Increase

The Warren County Commission has rejected a proposal for a hefty tax increase. Monday night the commission rejected the 19-cent tax increase by a 19-5 vote. Fentress Co. Man Sentenced To Eight Years For Sex Crimes

A judge handed down an eight year prison sentence to a Fentress County man charged with numerous sex crimes against a minor. An investigation by the Fentress County Sheriff’s Department led to the arrest of 33-year-old Arias Angeles. Cookeville Man Charged With Attempted First-Degree Murder

Putnam County authorities have charged a Cookeville man with attempted first-degree murder. 18-year-old Austin B. Peat is under a $1,030,000 bond at the Putnam County Jail. Two DeKalb County inmates will face more charges after engaging in a fight that left a correctional officer injured. Commission To Vote On Land Purchase For New Fairgrounds

Putnam County’s Fiscal Review Committee has recommended purchasing 92-acres of property as the future location of the county fairgrounds. The committee made the recommendation Monday night. Lake Tansi Man To Serve Three Years For Attempted Robbery

A judge has sentenced a Lake Tansi man to serve three years in prison for attempting to rob a man last year. 50-year-old Kenneth Wayne Spivey recently pleaded guilty to attempted aggravated robbery. Lifetime Insurance Ending For Cookeville City Employees

The Cookeville City Council has voted to eliminate lifetime participation for city retirees in its employee health insurance program once they reach the age of Medicare eligibility.
