Sparta Man Struck And Killed By Vehicle

A Sparta resident has died after being struck by a vehicle Thursday night. The incident happened around 8:00 p.m. at the intersection of Roberts Mathews Highway and Jim Hennessee Road. The owners of the Crossville Dragway have decided to close the track. The announcement was posted to the track’s Facebook page today. Crossville To Conduct Special Census

Overton County Man Charged With Statutory Rape

Clay County Authorities have arrested a 24-year-old Overton County man for allegedly having inappropriate relations with a 15-year-old girl. Joshua T. Fraley of Hilham is charged with statutory rape. Cookeville Council To Consider Rate Increase For Electric Customers

The Cookeville City Council will consider a rate increase for electric customers Thursday night. The rate increase is needed to cover a 1.5 percent rate increase that the Tennessee valley Authority approved last month. DeKalb Teachers Taking On Higher Health Insurance Premiums

The DeKalb County Board of Education has approved a state mandated 7-percent health insurance increase.
