Crash Claims Life Of Smith Co. Man

A Sunday morning motorcycle crash in Wilson County has claimed the life of a Smith County man. The deceased is identified as 27-year-old Jason Kemp. Officials said Kemp was killed when his motorcycle rear-ended a car on Interstate 40 near mile marker 239 in Lebanon. The Tennessee Highway Patrol said Kemp was pronounced dead at the scene. Cookeville Man Charged With Rape

Putnam County authorities have charged a Cookeville man with rape following an investigation by the Cookeville Police Department. 39-year-old Johnny Lee West was arrested Saturday on a single count of rape. Authorities said the alleged incident happened in early May. Additional details about the alleged crime are not known at this time. West remains behind bars on $50,000 bond. Read More »

The White County Board of Education has approved the transfer of $2 million for a new school and athletic complex.
