White County High School To Get New Softball Facility, Projecting Spring Completion

White County High School set to construct a new softball training facility.

The school board approved the $536,000 bid at its recent monthly meeting. Communications Director Candice Allen said the projected location will be right next to the school’s baseball facility.

“I think our district just realized the importance of providing our female athletes with an equal facility that our male athletes had,” Allen said. “So we are building a facility that mirrors the same features that the facility has at our baseball field.”

Allen said the space will be an indoor hitting facility, complete with turf, batting cages, and a restroom facility.

Allen said the facility will hopefully be completed by this spring. She said that will allow the team to utilize both in pre-season and regular-season training.

“I’m so excited about the new indoor facility we are getting here in White County,” Head Coach Jerry Roberts said. “When I took over as head coach here, this was something I’ve worked so hard to bring to this softball program. This indoor facility immensely helps both our pre and during-season training.”
