Just 8% Of Middle TN Community Foundation Tornado Grants To Putnam

The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee has made some $3.76 million in grants for tornado relief since March. Of that amount, just $258,550 has gone exclusively to Putnam County organizations. Cookeville Regional reports two more COVID-19 deaths, both residents from Putnam County. One resident died Monday, the other Sunday. 19 people died statewide Monday from COVID, according to the Tennessee Department of Health. 22 patients remain hospitalized with COVID-19 at CRMC. Putnam Reports $6 Million In Building Permits

Putnam County reported some $6.1 million in building permits issued during the month of July. The 44 permits puts the month behind only June, 2020 for most construction permits in the county’s history. The July number includes 30 new single family residential permits. Putnam Saved $3.6 Million In Interest

Putnam County refinanced its 2013 school bonds this week and saved some $3.6 million in interest. Putnam County Commissioners unanimously approved a water improvement plan for Green Mountain residents Monday. The county will join forces with the town of Algood to run water lines and install pumps. Three Cookeville men were rescued west of Bayport, Florida Thursday after their boat capsized in the Gulf. Mark LaRoche, Kevin LaRoche and Karim Odeh radioed the Coast Guard Thursday afternoon their boat had begun taking on water north of St Petersburg.
