Tornado Relief Fund Assistance Offered

Tornado victims who need help with applying for the Cookeville-Putnam County Tornado Relief Fund can get in-person assistance this week. Cartwright Appeal Denied By Court

The Tennessee Court of Appeals denied the appeal of William Floyd Cartwright on his 2005 conviction for premeditated murder. A Putnam County jury convicted Cartwright for the death of Marvin Martin Jr. in 2004. Cartwright had challenged the conviction arguing he received ineffective assistance during the trial from his counsel. The man who brought a twinkle and a smile to thousands of Upper Cumberland children each holiday season has passed away. Princeton Ball, also known as Santa, delighted kids at the annual Dogwood Park tree lighting as well as the community Christmas parade. Putnam County School Nutrition Changes

Beginning Wednesday, Putnam County School Nutrition distribution will change. Putnam County School Nutrition will serve a two-day supply of meals each Monday and Wednesday, and then the regular meal distribution will take place on Friday.
