5K Square Feet Of New Retail Space Set For Willow Ave

Some 5,000 square feet of new retail space set for development at 566 South Willow Avenue, near Jackson Street.

Economic and Community Development Director Jon Ward said developers have submitted a plan set for the property that formerly housed a tarot card business near Staples. He said the plan included some 3,500 feet of retail space and some 1,500 of restaurant space with a drive-thru. He said no potential tenants have come forward to this point.

“Folks that are looking for retail space would have some opportunities here,” Ward said.  “Willow’s one of the biggest commercial corridors in the city,” Ward said. “It’s seen as desirable locations for, you know, tons of different commercial and retail users.”

Ward said he expects the developers to move forward with the construction proposal soon. The old buildings have been torn down and slabs of concrete remain on the property.

Ward said he is waiting for them to finish revisions to the plan set and apply for building permits before they can take the next step.

A Penn Station Sub Shop had been announced for that property, but that development appears to have fallen through.
