Van Buren County Schools closed Tuesday due to rising absenteeism. The district is set to reopen Monday November 28th following an extended Thanksgiving break. The system is closed on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday for the holiday. The Cordell Hull Bridge over the Cumberland River in Smith County will remain closed for several weeks to assess a crack found Wednesday.
