School Board Approves LA Football Stadium Renovation Project

The Overton County School System will move forward with renovating the Livingston Academy football stadium.

Director of Schools Mark Winningham said the school board has approved the project not to exceed $4.3 million.

“It’s very much needed. Our existing stadium is approximately 40-years old,” Winningham said. “It’s brick and mortar and it’s in pretty bad shape. It’s a much needed project.”

Winningham said the board will now begin discussions about specific renovation plans for the facility.

“Right now, we are in the planning phase. We will meet Monday with the architectural group to try to move those things forward,” Winningham said. “Obviously, it would be aluminum seating throughout the stadium. There could potentially be new restroom facilities, new concession stand, and some upgrades to the grounds around the stadium.”

Winningham said the stadium hasn’t seen a major update since it first opened.

“There’s been some renovations to the press box area and some cosmetic things,” Winningham said. “But as far as a complete renovation to the stadium, there’s not been one since the stadium was built.”

A timeline for the project will be announced later this year, Winningham said.
