Putnam County Man Charged with Selling Controlled Substances

The Sheriff’s Department has charged a Putnam County man with two counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell. An officer conducted surveillance of Jason Brett Franklin, 34, on June 12. The officer followed Franklin to 660 N Willow Ave. The report said the officer witnessed two drug transactions. CPD on the Lookout for Runaway Juvenile Suspect

Cookeville Police are looking for a juvenile suspect following an early-morning pursuit and attempted theft Monday. CPD officers apprehended two juveniles around 1:25 a.m. following a short vehicle pursuit. A third suspect was able to evade police at the time of the incident. Upper Cumberland Unemployment Increases Slightly

The Upper Cumberland’s unemployment rate increased in all but two counties for the month of May. Clay and Fentress Counties saw improvement, dropping to 3.8 and 3.3 respectively. The region as a whole saw a slight increase from April to May, up to 3.1 percent. The region still remains under the Tennessee state average, which also increased to 3.5 percent. Read More »

The Peoples Stockyard in Cookeville sold for over $2.7 million at auction Saturday. Waymon Hale of Waymon Hale Construction in McMinnville was the winning bidder, purchasing both lots up for sale.
