Man Receives Probation For Chop Shop Operation

A DeKalb County judge has ordered a man to serve 10-years of probation after he pleaded guilty to a chop shop operation involving more than $200,000 in stolen equipment and vehicles. Earlier this week 33-year-old Jason Douglas Stembridge pleaded guilty to theft over $60,000 and theft over $10,000. Smith County authorities have charged a Wilburn Hollow resident wilh animal cruelty charges. A 24-year-old Brooklyn New York man suffered minor injuries when his tractor trailer fell 20-feet from an Interstate 40 overpass onto Highway 70 in Putnam County. DeKalb Minister Charged With Statutory Rape

Smith County authorities have arrested a DeKalb County minister on charges of statutory rape by an authority figure. According to investigators, Richard A. Petty admitted to having inappropriate contact with a minor on several occasions. Petty remains incarcerated at the Smith County Jail Facility on $180,000.
