Cookeville residents will have to wait a little while longer for the roundabout to open up between Lee Seminary Road and Highlands Park Boulevard. Woman Shoots Herself As Deputies Attempt To Serve Warrant In Cookeville

A 44-year-old woman has died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in Putnam County. Officials said the incident happened on Boatman Street around 10:00 a.m. as deputies attempted to serve an outstanding criminal court warrant against 44-year-old Norma Virginia Davis. McMinnville Seeks To Raise Motel Tax

The McMinnville Board of Mayor and Aldermen approved a resolution Tuesday night to increase the levy of its motel tax. The resolution calls for raising the current motel tax from 2.5-percent to 4.5-percent, which is closer to the state average. Smithville Man Sentenced For Tax Evasion

A Smithville man has avoided jail time after being charged with tax evasion earlier this year. 31-year-old Brandon Alan Tramel entered a plea this week to two counts of evading taxes and received a 2-year sentence suspended to supervised probation.
