Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam and the Governor’s Foundation for Health and Wellness have recognized Crossville and Cumberland County as Healthier Tennessee Communities. Fire Causes Damage To Home In Baxter

An early morning fire damaged a home in Baxter. Officials said the blaze broke out Monday on Medley drive around 1:35 a.m. Firefighters managed to contain the fire to a bathroom, which suffered about $6,000 in damages. Smith Co. Man Killed In Monday Morning Crash

A single vehicle crash has claimed the life of a Smith County man. The crash happened around 8:00 a.m. this morning on Highway 25. The deceased is identified as 68-year-old David H. West. Findlay Elementary School Project Moving Forward

The White County School System has officially started accepting bids for the new Findlay Elementary School construction project. Bid selection should take place next month with construction getting underway shortly after. Crossville Selects Lantana Road Route For Sewer Line

The Crossville City Council has approved a recommendation to use the Lantana tie-in route for a new sewer line to the Meadow Park Water Treatment Plant. The project will total $1.48 million dollars, roughly $30,000 more than the other option to use the Spruce Loop tie-in. Couple Charged With Stealing Packages From Porch

Cumberland County authorities arrested two people this week for allegedly stealing packages off a front porch. Police have charged 35-year-old Amanda Jo Jones and 32-year-old Clifton Albert Wagner with theft under $500. Authorities said they arrested the couple at a home on Halstead Drive. Putnam County EMS has purchased a new type of ambulance.
