The building committee of the Overton County School Board awaits price estimates for the new Livingston Academy football stadium.
Chairman Mike Hayes said the committee has five different plans for the stadium and will vote for one after costs are known.
“The architect was supposed to come back and explore the different options and cost of redoing the current field, or possibly building a new stadium behind the softball stadium,” Hayes said.
Hayes said the committee was set to discuss the prices of each plan this April, but the meeting was cancelled due to social distancing.
“With everything going on right now, our meetings are postponed until further notice, because of the Covid-19 issues,” Hayes said. “Until we get back on a schedule of actually meeting then the architect will come back.”
Once the prices are known, the committee will vote for the most affordable plan. Hayes said then, the architect would sign a contract and proceed with construction.
Livingston Academy’s current stadium is over 40 years old with deteriorated concrete. Hayes said a new stadium is needed for the safety of the fans.
Hayes said the original plan was a $4.3 million renovation, but since then, plans started to include a new track.
