UCEMC will give members a credit beginning next month to reduce monthly electric bills.
The TVA Board approved the credit as part of a $200 million Pandemic Relief Credit plan. That reduces UCEMC’s wholesale power bill. UCEMC General Manager Jimmy Gregory said standard service customers will see a 1.6 percent savings effective October 1st.
“We certainly appreciate TVA’s board for approving pandemic relief in any respect that they feel that they can,” Gregory said. “And our board felt like we should pass this on to our rate payers on the retail side of it. They approved this at the September board meeting.”
The discount will run until September 30, 2021.
Gregory said several members across their service area have expressed concerns of making bill payments.
“Several of our members across our service area more so back during April, May and June,” Gregory said. “We work with our members with the best of our ability in order to provide them a repayment plan and offer them several ways to pay.”
UCEMC purchases power through TVA to serve Upper Cumberland residents.
