UC Habitat ReStore Sees Successful First Day At New Location

Upper Cumberland Habitat ReStore had a busy and successful opening day at its new location on Jefferson Avenue by Big R Farm and Home.

Habitat’s Jennifer Olsen said the day started with a line out the door before they even opened. She said it is exciting to be able to offer a new and improved place to shop and donate to the community.

“It should be an easier donation process, we have a bay door back there that you can donate to back there,” Olsen said. “And shopping, it’s much cleaner and much better organized because we were able to set it up and make it a better shopping experience.”

Olsen said the new space boasts heating and air, public restrooms, and even more space than the 15th street location. She said their Jefferson Avenue spot offers an added bonus of increased visibility to the general public.

“That’s big for us to be a location that people might accidentally pass by and see us and say ‘Hey I’d love to stop in and shop at the ReStore,'” Olsen said. “Instead, at the old location on 15th Street, we were definitely a destination. We’re super excited to be here. It’s taken a lot to get here, but we’re very happy.”

Olsen said the ReStore has begun taking donations once again now that the new location is settled. She said if you have a large item donation you can order a truck pick up, or if your car is big enough, you can go to the right side of the building near the bay door and drop it off yourself.

Olsen said the ReStore now has new days and hours. She said it will be open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
