This Week: Putnam Commission Works On Jail Bond And New School

This week the Putnam County Commission will discuss finances and county debt in a work session Monday.

The topic of discussions will focus on the bond issue for the new jail, a new school, as well as the new fiscal year budget. Sheriff Eddie Farris and School Director Corby King are set to present their requests to the county court at 5:30.

Fentress County Commissioners will start the redistricting process Monday. Members will consider establishing a redistricting committee as final census numbers near release.

The board will also consider applying for a TEMA Hazard Mitigation Grant. The possible funding would be used to install emergency sirens in various communities of the county. The meeting will be called to order at the county courthouse at 6:00 p.m.

White County Commissioners meet for a regular called meeting Monday at 6:00 p.m. as well. Members will hear multiple committee reports and appoint a nominating committee.

The Jackson County Commission brings an end to the meetings on Monday at 7:00 p.m.

Tuesday, Van Buren County Commission meets at 6:00 p.m. Members will consider candidates to appoint a 1st District School Board Member. Ronnie Hitchcock previously represented the district, but resigned after moving.

Jackson County Schools meets at Gainesboro Elementary School Thursday at 6:00 p.m.
