Algood Rejects Park Bids, Working On Lowering Costs To Rebid

All bids were rejected for phase one of Algood’s future 21-acre park during Tuesday night’s city council meeting. The lowest bid came in at $1,054,900. Putnam Budget Committee Recommends A Potential Property Tax Increase

The Putnam County Budget Committee recommended a 10-cent property tax increase for the coming year during its Monday meeting. Five cents would go to the county general fund, and five cents go to the schools. Putnam Seeing Homicide, Suicide Increase Recently

Putnam County has seen a spike in homicides, suicides and overdoses in recent months. County Coroner Tommy Copeland said additional money to fund autopsies, investigations and death certificates has been requested twice.
