A Cumberland County Fire Department Captain said his team has put out an estimated 18 fires in a 24-hour period. Captain Braeden Adams said most of the fires were caused by people burning leaves and brush. The Cumberland County Schools have seen a big increase in the number of students participating in dual enrollment and work-based learning from last year. Dual enrollment students increased from 79 students last fall to 355 students now. Work-based learning has grown from 139 students last year to 331 students. Counties across the Upper Cumberland are seeing an increase in accidents involving deer. There were six accidents involving deer in the Fairfield Glade community in Cumberland County on Saturday. Cumberland County Commissioners approved Joshua Selby as the county’s first Codes Director. Based on growth inside the county, commissioners decided earlier this year to create their own codes department. Previously, Crossville has handled projects in the county.
