Staying COVID Safe At Holiday Gatherings

Gathering for the holiday this weekend may require taking some extra precautions with the recent spike in COVID.

David Cox is the Livingston Regional Hospital Director of Growth and Outreach. He said that the best thing to do is to get tested if you’re showing signs of symptoms.

“To make sure that you don’t expose anyone that you love, anyone that you care about to that potential disease,” Cox said. “Make sure you get tested if you are having any symptoms.”

Cox said that it would be a good idea to wear a mask near the food to avoid spreading germs. He said that if possible, try not to serve buffet style.

Cox said that the worst thing someone could do would be to ignore symptoms and attend gatherings anyway.

“Making sure that you’re well, making sure that those that are with you are well, and making sure that everybody kind of governs themselves in that that is my largest recommendation,” Cox said.

Cox said that end the end of the day, it’s important to maintain safety while still celebrating together.

“Celebrating the holidays is something that I think everyone should do,” Cox said. “I think we need to do it as safely as we can. But we need to be able to have some time with our family and be able to enjoy each other.”
