The Putnam County School System will use its last snow day Thursday.
Director of Schools Corby King said a continuous learning plan was created at the start of the school year. King said k-12 students would use virtual learning days when all 13 snow days are used.
“The big impact for families and for students is that we don’t have to change our school calendar,” King said. “So, we won’t be taking days off of Spring Break, we won’t be adding days at the end of the year. So, if we go over our 13 allotted snow days that we built into the calendar. Day 14, day 15, day 16, I hope we don’t have to do that but if we do, we will use remote learning.”
King said teachers would post assignments on Google Classroom for all grades. King said he knows that not every student will have internet access.
“The students know how to access them, they know how to submit them back,” King said. “We’ll be reasonable, we also understand there are complications. That not every child has access throughout the day. So, our expectations, our assignments will be reasonable if that does become a reality and we’ll work with families to make it successful.”
