Plans Approved For An Arby’s On Roosevelt Dr In Sparta

Sparta Codes Officer Mike O’Neal said a new Arby’s restaurant will be coming to Sparta.

“Renovation plans have been approved for an Arby’s at the 681 Roosevelt Drive location, which was formerly Bojangles,” O’Neal said. “I know that rumor has been floating around, and they asked us not to say anything. They gave us that approval today (Thursday).”

O’Neal said only small renovations will be made to the building. O’Neal said the city now waits for the contractor of the job to come and begin the process.

O’Neal said commercial development numbers have been rising in the city. The Burger King on Bockman Way has also submitted plans to tear down the store connecting to its restaurant and make one sole building.

In other business during the Thursday Board of Aldermen meeting, members approved soliciting for bids for concrete and a stand-by generator for the senior center.

The gateway monument construction along Highway 111 has also faced delays. City Administrator Brad Hennessee said the stone mason that completed the Winding Lane sign did not return to complete the Spring Street sign.

Hennessee said he reached out to the contractor and the stone for the welcome signs should be completed in a few weeks.
