Suspect Arrested After Wednesday Vehicle Pursuit In White Co.

Three White County law enforcement vehicles were severely damaged and two deputies injured after a Wednesday incident involving a vehicle pursuit.

Officers were originally dispatched to the area of Iris Drive and Camp Drive in reference to a male subject later identified as Jesse D. Dotson wearing a mask possibly trying to break into a residence. Dispatch advised that Dotson was possibly shooting at a second caller. While en route, dispatch advised that the caller had stated the subject was leaving in the direction of town and was armed with a sawed-off shotgun.

When deputies identified a suspicious vehicle and attempted to make a traffic stop, the vehicle accelerated and made its way to Highway 111. During the pursuit in which the vehicle passed numerous other vehicles and swerved at oncoming vehicles, Dotson eventually drove to the residential area of Jerry Parker Road where the vehicle was subsequently disabled by a patrol unit.

Dotson was taken to Saint Thomas Highland Hospital for treatment. Mr. Dotson was discharged and transported to the White County Justice Center. Dotson was charged with one count of Felony evading arrest in a motor vehicle, 8 counts of aggravated assault, resisting official detention, and 4 citations.
During the investigation of the possible shooting, it was confirmed a gunshot was fired into a home in White County where three adults and two children were present.
