A Putnam County man has been arrested after he posted a video addressing the Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives department about being in possession of explosives. Putnam County Jail has recently received accreditation by meeting all requirements as set by the Tennessee Corrections Institute. The accreditation will increase the amount of money allotted per inmate from the state without costing Putnam County residents any extra tax dollars. Van Buren County Commissioners approved several grants for the Sheriff’s Department at its special called meeting Tuesday night. The grants included the state Health Department’s ELC confinement grant, a training equipment grant, and a technology grant. Putnam County traffic stops over Thanksgiving weekend led to two drug arrests. The first stop occurred Wednesday that resulted in the arrest of Jamie Powell. Powell’s vehicle was found to have a felony amount of Methamphetamine and Marijuana. Fentress County Sheriff’s Deputies recovered drugs, drug paraphernalia, and cash over the weekend in patrols around the Sound Haven Music Festival. Sheriff’s Deputies retrieved over 51 grams of marijuana and 32 grams of mushrooms. Putnam County Sheriff’s Office has made an arrest following a three-month drug investigation. 21-year-old Jamichael Brian Lewis of Chattanooga was arrested at a Gainesboro Grade resident on Tuesday morning.
