Local Advocates Celebrate Reopening Of Putnam Spay Neuter Clinic

Local supports of the Putnam County Spay and Neuter Clinic excited that services will continue under a different non-profit.

The animal rescue Wags and Whiskers is set to take over the operation. Resident Lendzi Chandley said the clinic remaining open means efforts will continue to fight pet overpopulation.

“It has really made my heart soar,” Chandley said. “My mother and I have had an animal rescue in Putnam County for the past 15 years or more. So to see the community rally around animals is so amazing.”

Resident Cheryl Vick said the news gives her hope of a brighter future. Vick said the community response has shown that people care about pet issues.

“I’m overwhelmed,” Vick said. “It is such a pleasant surprise to see how the community has rallied and voiced concern. The news that the new 501-C is coming is absolutely wonderful.”

The non-profit was based in Crossville but will move its focus to Putnam County. The new board is set to reopen the clinic as soon as the transfer is complete.
