Crossville Man Charged With DUI In Hit And Run

A Crossville man faces charges of driving under the influence, two counts of leaving the scene of an accident and resisting arrest following a weekend incident.

It happened at the Main Street Dairy Queen where police responded to the call of a possible drunk driver. 29-year-old Sergio Xammar was driving a red Impala in the drive thru. As police approached the vehicle in line, Xammar pulled forward and ran into a power pole. Police activated the blue lights at which point Xammar reportedly accelerated backward nearly hitting the police car.

Xammar pulled forward again, hitting the power pole for a second time. When police approached the car, they smelled alcohol. Police ordered the man to exit the car and put his hands behind his back. The man did not comply. Police brought the suspect to the ground where he hit his chin, requiring seven stitches.

Police reports said Xammar had hit two other vehicles before arriving at Dairy Queen, one near Woodmere Mall and a second in the Bullfrogs Bar parking lot.
