Crossville will begin an emergency storm water project Monday after finding deteriorated pipes near Crossville Medical Group.
Mayor James Mayberry said the situation presents possible flood threats if not resolved.
“During a storm we noticed that the storm drains, the man holes were over flowing and the medical facility was having trouble with drainage as well,” Mayberry said. “So after further review, we found out that the old antique, clay pipes were deteriorated.”
Mayberry said the pipes will be replaced through a pipe bursting process. Mayberry said the project on the corner of West Avenue and Lantana Drive should be completed in about a week.
“We did an emergency session to approve moving forward with this,” Mayberry said. “We were fortunate enough the company that does this was able to mobilize, and they’re on site now.”
Mayberry said the area sits in a low spot with the lower level of the medical group prone to flooding. Bobby Luttrell and Sons will conduct the work for about $32,000.
