Council To Replace Owens On CRMC Board Thursday

Cookeville City Council will vote Thursday night to appoint a new member of the Cookeville Regional Medical Center Board of Trustees.

Cookeville Mayor Laurin Wheaton said Justin Cumby has agreed to serve. City Manager James Mills said Carl Owens has resigned from the board with two years remaining on his term. Mills said after serving the remaining two years of the term, Cumby will be eligible to continue serving if council approves.

Cumby owns J Cumby Construction, a local company that has overseen the hospital’s Tennessee Heart expansion project. Mills said Thursday’s vote only appoints Cumby to the two-year term. Any further service would have to be agreed upon after the term expires.
