A Saturday crash at the DeKalb and Smith County line has resulted in charges against a man from Alexandria. The Tennessee Highway Patrol has charged 35-year-old Jeremy Fitts with DUI, violation of the open container law, and failure to exercise due care. PCSO Investigating Friday Shooting Death

Authorities are investigating a dead body found just outside of Smithville Monday.

The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting death of a 19-year-old male. The shooting occurred at a Putnam County residence around 7 p.m. Friday evening. Officials are still investigating the situation but early indications point to the shooting being accidental. The victim’s identity and the shooting location have not been released at this time.
