Byrdstown has applied for grant funding to install an electric, informational sign outside city hall.
Mayor Sam Gibson said the sign would be about 12 and a half feet and display current events in the county.
“Whether it is the city council meeting or whatever,” Gibson said. “Kind of keep people informed, because once you read the paper this week and have a tendency to forget before something happens. So that way it will be fresh on people’s mind.”
Gibson said he anticipates the results of the $5,000 grant to come in before the end of the year. Gibson said the sign would be on West End Avenue, which is the most popular street in the town.
Gibson said making sure the LED display is not a distraction to drivers would be a main focus in installation.
