Prisoner Charged With Assault For Biting

A DeKalb County prisoner was charged with assault after allegedly biting a correctional officer. Sheriff Patrick Ray said the incident took place when the officer entered the holding cell, 19 year old Tavia Gayle Cantrell tried to force her way out and bit the officer’s left arm. Cookeville Police K9 Ruger has served since 2011. The department celebrated his retirement Monday. Lt. Det.
