Fire Breaks Out At TTU Fraternity House Thursday Morning

A fire broke out at the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity house in Cookeville early this morning. The Cookeville Fire Department responded to the scene around 4:20 a.m. Officials said it took about two hours for firefighters to put out the blaze which occurred in a bathroom. Two Injured Following Thursday Morning Crash In White Co.

Two people suffered injuries when their vehicle rolled over in White County this morning. The Tennessee Highway Patrol said the crash happened around 6:30 a.m. on Highway 70, about three miles from the White and DeKalb County line. Crossville And Algood Purchase 4th of July Fireworks

It may be December, but two Upper Cumberland cities have already starting making plans for 4th of July. Both Crossville and Algood have approved contracts to purchase firework shows for 4th of July holiday. Smith Co. Receives Grant To Fund Improvements To Court Facilities

Smith County has received a grant that will fund improvements to courtroom facilities. The $30,000 grant from the Administrative Office of the courts will pay for new security fencing and gates to the Smith County Jail and courts facility in Carthage. Pickett Co. Records Double-Digit State Sales Tax Gain

In the latest figures released, two Upper Cumberland counties reported double-digit state sales tax gains. However, overall collections across the region are down by a tenth of a percent compared to last month. Pickett County reported a 22.7-percent gain while Jackson County saw a 13.2-percent increase. Pickett Co. Purchases New Ambulances

Pickett County has received two new ambulances. Both ambulances were purchased with the help of a Community Development Block Grant from the Tennessee Department of Economic Development. Cookeville Man Charged With Reckless Endangerment

A Cookeville man faces reckless endangerment charges after he allegedly fired multiple gun shots inside his Terry Avenue home last week. TDOT has opened Highway 25 at the rockfall mitigation site in Smith County.
