A fire has destroyed a home in Cumberland County. The county fire department responded to the blaze around 8:30 last night at a home on Lowe Road. Officials said the fire started in the basement of the home and quickly spread. A male occupant managed to escape unharmed, but officials said the home was a total loss estimated at $80,000. A man accused of setting fire to three homes in Overton County last year, appeared in criminal court for a hearing this week. During that hearing a judge set a July 11th court date for 39-year-old Calvin Booher. The 13th Judicial District has filed a joint lawsuit against opioid manufacturers.
