The city of Crossville has a new City Clerk. Valerie Hale was sworn in by Mayor James Mayberry this week. Hale replaces Sally Oglesby who retired last month. Oglesby held that position for 32-years and Hale was an assistant to Oglesby for eight years. Read More »

Fire Destroys Home In Cumberland Co.

A fire has destroyed a home in Cumberland County. The county fire department responded to the blaze around 8:30 last night at a home on Lowe Road. Officials said the fire started in the basement of the home and quickly spread. A male occupant managed to escape unharmed, but officials said the home was a total loss estimated at $80,000. Court Date Set For Alleged Arsonist

A man accused of setting fire to three homes in Overton County last year, appeared in criminal court for a hearing this week. During that hearing a judge set a July 11th court date for 39-year-old Calvin Booher. The Wilson County Commission has selected Lebanon Insurance Agent Clark Boyd to finish out the term of Mark Pody in House District 46. Pody resigned from the state house after being elected by voters to fill the unexpired term of Mae Beavers in the 17th Senatorial District. Airport Employees May Soon Be Under Tennessee Consolidated Retirement System

Electric Issue Fixed At East Cookeville Substation

The East Cookeville Substation tripped off line at 11:00 this morning, causing about 3,000 residential, commercial, and industrial customers to lose power. Cookeville Electric officials said the circuit tripped when an external oil temperature gauge on the power transformer malfunctioned, causing an erroneous message to be sent to the circuit. Lawsuit Filed Against Opioid Manufacturers

The 13th Judicial District has filed a joint lawsuit against opioid manufacturers. The lawsuit was filed Tuesday in Cumberland County Circuit Court by 19 counties in the 13th, 16th, 17th, 22nd, and 31st judicial districts.
