Arraignment Wednesday For Vehicular Homicide Case

An arraignment hearing will take place Wednesday for a 39-year-old Byrdstown man facing vehicular homicide charges.

The charges against Michael Lynn Owens stem from an October 2019 car crash in Overton County that killed 71-year-old Bob E. Allen of Cookeville. The Tennessee Highway Patrol said Owens was driving South on Highway 111 when his Volvo rear-ended Allen’s 1952 Chevy.

Allen died at the crash scene after the impact ejected him from the vehicle.

A grand jury handed down indictments last month charging Owens with vehicular homicide by intoxication and vehicular homicide by recklessness.
