Cookeville Man Killed In Highway 111 Crash

A two-vehicle crash killed a 71-year-old Cookeville man Wednesday afternoon.

The accident happened on Highway 111 in Overton County.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol said Bob Allen expired from injuries at the crash scene.

Allen was traveling South in a 1952 Chevy when the crash occurred. A preliminary crash report said the vehicle was rear-ended by a 2007 Volvo XC7, driven by 39-year-old Michael Owens of Byrdstown.

The impact caused Allen’s Chevy to travel off the left side of the road and flip twice before coming to a rest. Officials said he was ejected from the vehicle and landed 30-feet away.

Owens suffered injuries during the crash. The report said charges Are pending the outcome of the investigation.
