The City Of Algood will spend just under $8,500 to upgrade playground equipment at the tennis court park.
City Administrator Keith Morrison said a new free-sliding glide slide and a heavy-duty swing set will be installed.
“This would remove the slide and swing set that are now there,” Morrison said. “They are deteriorating and replace them with commercial-grade equipment that should last a lot longer.”
Morrison said the city hopes to repair three pieces of equipment at the park to keep them in operation. They include a merry-go-round, spring toys, and home dome climber, which the city hopes to repair to keep in use until additional funding can be budgeted.
Morrison said city workers would install the equipment. City Council voted to move forward the equipment purchase Tuesday night.
City Council also approved some $57,000 in paving to be completed by Rogers Group. The bid includes paving of West Wall Street from 2nd Ave South to West Main Street. Pennock Street will be paved from West Main Street to Riley’s Path. In addition, Mirandy Road will be striped from East Main Street to the city limits. This road will be paved later following water/sewer upgrades.
