Algood Trash Pickup Delayed With Two Trucks Broken Down

Algood trash pickup delayed a few hours Thursday as both garbage trucks undergo maintenance.

City Administrator Keith Morrison said routes may not be completed until Friday morning.

“We’re hoping its something that we can get back on the road pretty quick,” Morrison said. “We’re hoping one of them is just a fuse that’s got it shut down. The other one is just having some issues with the PTO kicking out not allowing it to pick up when it needs to.”

Morrison said the truck facing hydraulic issues was sent to the shop while in-house maintenance workers try to repair the fuse. Morrison said normal equipment failures happen, but this time it’s both trucks at the same time.

Morrison said the city has been using the backup garbage truck. Morrison said if trash is not picked up Thursday, residents can leave their cans by the roadway for Friday.
