Algood has gained the final easement needed to for its $2.1 million sewer and waterline project.
City Administrator Keith Morrison said the next step is sending paper work needed for the USDA’s approval and then putting the project out to bid. Morrison said it has been a long time coming getting everything together to try and begin work in the new year.
“We’re hoping by Spring… Of course with the holidays coming on and having to finish paperwork it’s hard to do everything,” Morrison said. “A lot of the offices that we deal with some of them are working from home at reduced capacity right now, so we’re trying to get everything together and all of our technical drawings are in and approved… So, hopefully by Spring we’ll have some ground on the work and be moving forward.”
Morrison said the first part of this project is the water system downtown. Which he said will also fix deteriorating lines.
“The waterline enhancement down Main Street and downtown to kind of put a backbone together for the system,” Morrison said. “Fix some deteriorating older waterlines in the system.”
He said the second part is for sewer enhancements in the area of Old Walton Road and Oak Haven Place.
“A sewer enhancement going out Old Walton Circle and Old Walton Road, Arbor Place and Oak Haven Place,” Morrison said. “Supplying those subdivisions with sewer service.”
Morrison said the last steps are finishing up and double checking paperwork before submitting. He said once approved by USDA, the project can be put out to bid.
